Our Process

Our process assists families in business and closely held companies, of various sizes and complexities. We work to find solutions that are right for the uniqueness of family, the individuals and the business.  Our process fosters family harmony, creates an executable plan and results in a positive bottom line.

We have found that the solutions for each client are very different depending upon the type of business, the challenges being addressed, the culture of the business, the individual emotional make up and a number of other personal and business factors.

Families are different, therefore, every set of challenges is different.  No single solution is right for every family.  Our process empowers each family to find the solutions that are right for them.  We use all, or a combination of, the following six categories to assist families in business with their challenges.

  1. Personal Relationships:  A process that reduces conflict while enhancing communication and understanding between family members. This includes the identification of personal and organizational purpose and goals.
  2. Business Practices:  A system to develop and enhance the strategic focus, to identify career path, to enhance execution skills of the family and company leaders, to clarify organizational structure and to establish the "rules" of business governance resulting in stronger bottom-line results.
  3. Operational Direction: A process to clarify and establish organizational structure and individual roles as well as the development of the mission, vision and strategic direction of the company.
  4. Succession Planning: A step by step procedure to identify what must take place before and after the departure, or reduced role, of the current leadership in order to insure the successful operations of the company will be maintained.
  5. Transitional Planning: The preparation, fact finding and planning that is needed to properly plan for the ownership transfer of the company.  This process is a discovery of what method will be in the best interest of the transferring party as well as the affect on the family if it is a legacy “pass-on.”
  6. Family in Business Coaching: We take on the role of a trusted advisor and confidant to the family “team” assisting them in addressing the specific personal and business challenges they face each and every day.
