"Family isn't about whose blood you have. It's about who you care about." -Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park, 1998

Have you ever been so busy that you forget to take the time to greet, praise, show love or even recognize your “family” by greeting them each day? Because of the stress of work, kids, school and many other challenges including the task of just making it through the day, our heads become so full of “me” we forget to consider the thoughts, feelings and opinions of the “family” around us. We forget to share with our “family” how proud we are of each and every one of them. We forget to share how much they mean to us. Because of “our” busyness we have a tendency to over look those times when we should be giving praise to our “family” and telling them how much they really mean to us. We all have families. Our family can consist of relatives, or our work family, or our friend family, or just our participation in the family of the human race. Who do we recognize? Who do we tell others we are proud of? When was the last time we actually praise someone in front of another person? I was reading a story when a Father said about his Son in front of many people, “This is my Son in whom I am well pleased.” For each of us the reference to Son could just as easily become; daughter, wife, husband, children, employee or friend. Most of us get so wrapped up in what we think is happening to us that we fail to outwardly recognize our “family” members in any manner whatsoever. With the New Year upon us and the first month already half over, there is still time to make “positive recognition” of your family an everyday resolution. Maybe it is time for us to be outwardly praising our family by regularly announcing to the world all the family members “in whom I am well pleased.” FREE webinars covering family business topics will be held the second Tuesday of each month.
